Guatemala leads cosmetics exports in region
Monday, September 15, 2014

Guatemala is the Central American leader in cosmetics production and exports, despite a 7.5 percent drop in that sector this year.
From January to July, the country exported cosmetics worth $234 million, down from the $248 million from the same period last year.
The drop is mainly due to less spending in the region as it weathers a severe drought and losses in the coffee harvest, said Aída Fernández, manufacturing director of the Guatemalan exporters' association.
