Guatemala needs more use of taxes for social spending, IMF says
Guatemala has excellent growth potential but its economy needs structural reforms, said Esther Pérez Ruiz, head of the IMF mission to the country.
The IMF recommends an increase of at least 15 percent in the government's take from taxes. But the new money should be spent on solving social problems, not spent on more bureaucracy, Pérez Ruiz said.
