Guatemala opts for cable cars to beat traffic chaos

Top Guatemala City officials have opted to build a cable-car system, to be known as AeroMetro, in order to ease traffic chaos in the capital's leading thoroughfare, Calzada Roosevelt.

Last year civil aviation authorities authorized the use of the system, which could cost about $180 million.

Since 2016, three companies have shown interest in the scheme: Dppelmay of Austria, Poma of France and Switzerland's Garaveta.
