Guatemala reaches 3.1 percent growth

Tuesday, February 26, 2019

Buoyed by the US economy and its impact on the earnings of immigrants there, Guatemala exceeded expectations with 3.1 percent growth last year.

Even so, analysts point out that the growth is insufficient for Guatemala's needs to reduce poverty and provide more job opportunities.

In 2017, the Guatemalan economy grew by 2.8 percent in 2017, while in 2016, growth also was 3.1 percent.
