Guatemala's coffee exports to fall by 40 percent

An outbreak of coffee-eating fungus in Guatemala is expected to lead to a 40 percent drop in exports next season, the president of the country's coffee association said.

"It's very serious," Nils Leporowski said.

Exports from the Central American country will likely be around 2.2 million 60-kilogram bags in the 2013-14 season, down about 40% from the 2011-12 season, Leporowski said.
