Guatemala’s president-elect seals deal on budget for next year. A major victory for the upcoming administration
Friday, November 25, 2011

Guatemala’s president-elect Otto Pérez notched up a major success for its upcoming government when the national Congress passed next year’s $7.6 billion national budget.
The president-elect thanks the political parties that backed the new budget. Opponents of Pérez tried to mount a filibuster but their efforts were unsuccessful.
The budget deadline was November 30. Without the accord, Pérez would have had to operate with this year’s budget.
