Guatemala's Quetzal port among most expensive
The tariffs at Guatemala's port of Quetzal are 25.5 percent more expensive for container ships, compared to similar ports in the rest of Central America, according to a study by Ascencio & Sabatino Consultores Asociados.
The port is also 24.4 percent more expensive for bulk carrier ships.
The study was ordered by Guatemala's council of users of international transport, in order to reject a proposal that would have driven tariffs up 65 percent.
