Guatemala's wealthy create a refuge from violence

Guatemala opened the first of a series of new housing projects which promote safety for their residents.

Paseo Cayalá is the name of the first project, covering an area of 14 hectares which include apartments, shops, restaurants and nightclubs.

House prices range from $260,000 to $800,000.

The plan is to build more projects of this type over the next 10 years, covering in total an area of some 335 hectares.
