Guatemala still confident despite delay on mining law

The government of Guatemala is confident its proposal to acquire up to 40 percent of all new mining projects will be passed, despite a one-month delay.

The delay will allow for government officials to analyze feedback from companies that could be affected by the new law changes.

The proposal will now be presented in Congress on August 1, instead of the original plan to present it on the July 16.
