Guatemala to launch accord with Peru this year

A free trade agreement between Guatemala and Peru should come into effect by the second half of this year, according to the Lima Chamber of Commerce.

Guatemala is Peru's third largest trading partner in Central America, with bilateral trade amounting to $143 million in 2011.

Peruvian exports to Guatemala rose 37 percent between January and May this year.
