Guatemala to receive four new power plants over coming six months

Some 190 megawatts will be added to Guatemala’s electricity capacity when four power plants are to be added to the system over the coming six months.

Investment in the new plants -- one of them coal-fired, the others hydro -- came to a total of $410 million.

By the end of this year, Duke Energy’s $160 million coal-fired plant is expected to come on stream.
