Guatemalan 'dry canal' will cost $7.5 billion

The construction of Guatemala's Inter-Oceanic Corridor, known as the "dry canal", will require an investment of $7.5 billion, according to Odepal, the company in charge of the project.
Odepal has been ipromoting the project for the last 13 years, and has invested some $7 million in studies and administration.
The project now requires an additional $450 million to buy 4,000 plots of land. Odepal stated the money should come from private Guatemalan investors.
