Guatemalan economy to grow 3.4 percent this year

The economy of Guatemala is expected to grow 3.4 percent this year, beating estimates for its main trade partners Mexico, the U.S. and El Salvador, the country's central bank said.

The figure is also higher than the 2.8 percent estimates from global financial bodies, said the bank's vice president, Julio Suárez.

Analysts say internal credit demand, remittances and foreign direct investment will boost growth.
