Guatemalan exports drop 3.5 percent

Monday, August 8, 2016

Weaker demand from the U.S. and Latin America caused Guatemala’s exports to drop 3.5 percent in the first half of the year, compared with the same period in 2015, the Bank of Guatemala said.

Oil is no longer in the country’s top 25 export products.

Garment sales continue to lead Guatemala’s exports, with a 4.7 percent growth in the period.
