Guatemalan fights might of Canadian miners

A suit filed in Canada by an indigenous woman in Guatemala Caal v. Hudbay Mineral Inc., has sent shivers through the vast Canadian mining, oil and gas industry.

More than 50 percent of the world’s publicly listed exploration and mining companies had headquarters in Canada in 2013, according to government statistics.
