Guatemalan insurance market grows 7.2 percent a year

Guatemala’s insurance market grew by 7.2 percent in the first three quarter of the year, compared with the same period of 2009.
Some sectors grew at a higher rate. Accident insurance rose by 9.6 percent year-on-year, and life was up by 9.3 percent.
However, premium income declined for aviation and automobile insurance dropped by 3.1 percent and 0.1 percent respectively as a result of continued difficulties in the economy.
