Guatemalan remittances surge in June with first half of year close to $2 billion

Guatemalan emigrants sent $394 million in remittances to their families in June, a 13 percent year-on-year increase and the highest monthly figure since August, 2008.
The percentage monthly increase was the first time to reach two digits so far this year, following drops in both January and February.
The total for the first half of the year reached $1.99 billion, an increase of 2.5 percent in the same period of last year.
