Guerrilla seen blocking Colombia farmland overhaul

Thursday, December 12, 2013

A Colombian government plan to help investors from Cargill to airline magnate German Efromovich develop more land for crops was stopped in its tracks.

The country's largest rebel group, FARC, was the reason behind the move, according to a farming organization.

The FARC said the plan contravened agreements made during peace talks held in Cuba, while the government said it was withdrawn because of time constraints.
