Friday, September 10, 2010

Heavy rainfall in Central America has provoked the death of 300 people since May, when the rainy season started in this region.

The floods, landslides and other incidents associated with the weather mainly affect Guatemala, Nicaragua and Honduras, countries where there is a greater number of fatal victims, and the authorities are counting millions of dollars in losses.

Rains in Guatemala left 46 dead, and there are still dozens of people buried that have not been rescued. The economic impact reaches 38,222 damaged acres, $6.8 million and 23,385 affected families.
