High logistics costs weigh heavily on region's trade

The cost of logistics in Central America is driving up consumer prices by 50 percent throughout the region, according to a study by the World Bank.

Among the products affected by the high transport costs are clothes, shoes, food and technology.

Panama is the least affected, as transport and logistic costs have gone up by only 20 percent, mainly due to the government's investment in improving road infrastructure.
