High winds ravage Costa Rica power systems

Wind gusts of up to 110 kilometers per hour damaged at least a dozen homes and left communities throughout Costa Rica without electricity over the weekend.

Fructuoso Garrido, director of distribution for power company CNFL reported that there were at least 30 areas without power in the greater metropolitan area and three fallen power poles in Mora, Goicoechea and Santa Barbara.

In Heredia, power company ESPH reported 15 outages, especially in San Rafael and San Isidro.
