Honduran coffee earnings slump

Tuesday, March 19, 2019

Honduran coffee earnings have slumped by 28 percent year-on-year so far during the current 2018-2019 harvest.

From October through March, earnings came to $365 million, compared with $505 million a year earlier, said the nation's coffee institute. Honduras is Central America's leading producer and exporter of coffee.

The institute said the problem was caused not by lower volumes of exports but by a drop in prices on international markets, reports La Tribuna in Spanish.
