Honduran farmers export 40 metric tons of cocoa to Swiss chocolate maker Halba. Substantial profits for growers

Honduras this year will export 40 metric tons of cocoa that will generate $1.5 million in revenue. The cocoa will be sent to Halba, a Swiss chocolate maker, which has been buying Honduran cocoa from 2009.
The Honduran farmers will make a profit of $1.16 per kilo. They sell the cocoa for $2.94 and production costs are $1.78.
Last year’s production was 850 metric tons, which earned some $20 million.
