Honduran tilapia

Government support in areas which include production techniques, export marketing, and technology, coupled with high demand for tilapia filet, make Honduras an interesting location for fisheries investment.

Honduras currently ranks second in Latin America and first in the region, in terms of exports of tilapia, mainly to the United States.

During the first quarter of this year, Honduran tilapia exports reached $5.7 million, nearly double the amount sold in the same period of 2010, according to the country’s Central Bank.
