Honduras: Caribbean condos
Monday, June 22, 2015
With condos starting at $69,000, Canada-based IsleVision Investment Group is betting that a combination of climate and price will attract buyers to Calm Waters Resort on Honduras’ Caribbean Coast, despite concerns over security in one of the world’s most violent countries.
The project is near the port of La Ceiba, two hours by boat or 20 minutes by air from the Roatan Islands, a leading destination for scuba and skin diving.
La Ceiba is one hour by road from San Pedro Sula, Honduras’ second city, whose airport has direct connections with rest of the region, as well as several United States cities, including Miami and Atlanta.
The project, which aims to develop 44 villas, and 99 condos, is on the Coloradito River, 200 meters from beachfront.
Calm Water is a project of Niagara Peninsula Housing Corporation, which develops small and mid-size projects in Southern Ontario.
Selling tourism and second-home properties is not always easy in Honduras, one of the world’s most violent countries.
On the other hand, visitors tend not to be targeted.
Meanwhile, Honduras’ Caribbean coast has warm weather all year, while except between October and December rainfall is moderate.
