Honduras fiscal situation spiralling downwards

Honduras's fiscal situation is becoming worse, due to an accelerated growth in its internal debt and slow economic growth.

The Central American Institute of Fiscal Studies, known as Icef, said Honduras's public debt is unsustainable.

"This year Honduras will have elections, a situation that distorts the fiscal situation because candidates use fiscal policy for their campaigns", said Hugo Noé Pino, economist at Icef.
