Honduras gets ready for cocoa bonanza
Tuesday, October 21, 2014
Honduran cocoa bean producers are forecasting an increase in exports and sales due to an increase in cocoa consumption in Asia, as well as a drop in production in Ghana and Ivory Coast.
Honduras produces some 1,400 tons a year worth $4 million, according to the Agriculture Ministry.
Cocoa prices have reached more than $3,000 per ton, their highest levels since 2011.
