Honduras gives green light to new mining projects

Honduras ended a moratorium on new mining projects. A new law will allow communities to vote whether or not a new project should be approved.

The law also increases free-on-board tax on exports up to 2 percent, and would be payed by the mining companies operating in the country.

The money from the new tax will go towards funding Coalianza, an organization that promotes the creation of private-public alliances.
