Honduras imposes price freeze on basic foodstuffs

Legislators in Honduras passed a decree that freezes 33 of the products in the basket of basic products included in the inflation index.

The freeze was in response to weeks of a wave of speculation in such basic staples as beans.

Corn, however, was excluded from the decree following an accord between producers and industrialists of the grain.
