Honduras invites tender for $150 million airport

Porfirio Lobo, the president of Honduras, announced the government will issue a tender next year for the construction of a long-awaited international airport in the Comayagua region.

The new airport will be built at Palmerola Military Base, a U.S. base known as Joint Task Force Bravo.

The construction of the airport will cost an estimated $150 million, and will be put out to tender after the government failed to reach an agreement with InterAirports, the national company that administers Honduras's all other airports.
