Honduras maquila workers seek salary raise

Wednesday, November 12, 2014

Workers of Honduras's manufacturing sector have asked for a salary increase of between 10 and 20 percent.

The committee negotiating the raise has already been in talks with the government, but this week the process will become official.

A salary raise is not out of the question, but other aspects such as the country's competitiveness and need for foreign investment to create jobs must be taken into account, said Daniel Facussé, president of the Honduran Maquila Association.
