Honduras poised to export poultry to United States

Wednesday, July 4, 2012

Honduras is almost ready to export poultry to the United States, after the country's National Agricultural Health Service, Senasa, and the Commission for Health Safety and the Chain Poultry, joined forces to achieve excellent health status.

"Now we have an improvement of 80 per cent in terms of the requirements requested by the USDA to export poultry products to the US," said Nidia Garcia, Coordinator of the Poultry Program.

The program has trained over 123 community leaders in the regions of Copan Ruins, Santa Cruz and Comayagua, and has signed more than seven letters of understanding with the municipal authorities confirming an early warning system for disease.
