Thursday, March 6, 2014

The customs office at Honduras's Puerto Cortés leads in terms of fiscal fraud and evasion reports.

"Puerto Cortés has the highest number of corruption cases compared with others. It has traditionally operated under complete disorganisation, where goods enter with no controls," said Miriam Guzmán, director of the country's revenue authority.

According to official figures, Puerto Cortés is one of Central America's largest and most important ports, and has handled more than 3 million metric tons of goods in recent years.
