Honduras seeks to renew contingency accord with the International Monetary Fund

Monday, February 20, 2012

A mission from the government of Honduras will visit Washington on Wednesday to open talks on a renewal of the contingency accord signed in 2010 with the International Monetary Fund.

Renewal of the accord is vital to Honduras, said Hector Guillén, the finance minister.

The Fund has indicated that Honduras met the targets on the public-sector deficit, though it noted that the central government's consolidated estimate was higher than expected.
