Honduras sees historic remittances growth this year

Remittances to Honduras are expected to reach $3.1 billion this year, according to the country's central bank.

If the figure is met, it would be a historic amount for Honduras, and would make remittances the country's second biggest earner after exports.

The bank said the increase is mainly due to a drop in unemployment in the U.S., which accounts for 85 percent of remittances.
