Honduras will be ready to sign a free trade accord with Canada this month

Tuesday, February 1, 2011

Talks on a free trade agreement between Honduras and Canada are likely to reach a conclusion by the week of February 14, according to Melvin Redondo, leader of the Honduran negotiators.

Redondo said that by then all the major issues are likely to be resolved. They include pork, the garment industry, labor relations and investment.

“Big corporations are interested in the textile sector, mining and farming. Once the trade accord is assured, they are likely to invest,” said Redondo.
