Honduras's state telecoms firm, Hondutel, urgently needs at least $500 million to save it from bankruptcy, representative Renán Inestroza said.
The Honduran Congress has approved the creation of a fund to raise capital and administer the company's finances through a financial institution.
The fund also authorizes the company to become a public limited company.
