Hybrid car sales boost in Costa Rica

Hybrid vehicle sales in Costa Rica are being boosted by their tax and environmental advantages, Costa Rican daily La República reported.

Hybrid car imports to the country doubled from 2012 to 2013, from 21 to 40, according to the customs authority.

In two year, the country's Datsun agency plans to introduce the Nissan Leaf, a 100 percent electric vehicle, while Grupo Purdy Motor already sells hybrid models such as the Toyota Prius, Camry and Lexus.
