IDB reaffirms support to Panama

The Inter-American Development Bank told Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela to maintain the country's growth rate of the past 10 years and create more jobs and improve life quality in rural areas, the bank's President, Luis Alberto Moreno said.

Moreno met with Varela for talks concerning the development of rural regions, adding that the government should make a priority to solve issues such as poverty, malnutrition and little access to education and health institutions.

Panamanian authorities said this year the country will grow between 6.5 and 7 percent, a figure above the Latin American average.
