Implentation of US trade accords with Colombia and Panama 'will take months'

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

A US official said yesterday that implementation of long-awaited free trade agreements with Colombia and Panama is expected in a matter of months.

Touted as job creators, the free trade accords will phase out most duties on trade between the US and the two countries.

Both Latin American countries are working on implementation issues, said José W. Fernández, US assistant secretary for business and economic affairs.
