Wednesday, July 14, 2010

The Panama Canal's total revenue in fiscal 2011 will likely rise 4.5 percent over 2010 to $2.11 billion, the canal authority said in its budget proposal approved by the country's government.

The authority expects to earn $1.61 billion in toll fees during the fiscal year between October 2010 and September 2011. The canal will collect the remaining from other services provided to the crossing ships and the sale of fresh water and electricity.

The canal will transfer $839 million from its revenue to the Panamanian government.
