Industrias Infinito, the subsidiary of the Canadian mining company Infinito Gold, laid off 223 employees following the court decision last month that stopped the development of its Crucitas open-pit gold mine in Costa Rica.
The mine has been the centre of controversy since former president Oscar Arias awarded a concession to Infinito.
Last month the Supreme Court of Costa Rica annulled the concession.
