Inmet hires SNC-Lavalin for $4 billion Panama mine

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

Inmet Mining has chosen a group headed by SNC Lavalin Group to provide basic engineering for the Cobre Panama copper mine and likely more extensive work if the $4 billion project goes ahead.

The Cobre Panama project includes an open pit mine and processing infrastructure, a tailings management facility, access roads, power transmission and distribution lines, an offshore dock and a port.

Financial terms between Inmet's subsidiary Minera Panama and the SNC joint venture weren't disclosed Monday.
