Isthmus received $21 billion in remittances last year

Four Central American countries received some $21 billion in remittances from their emigrants last year.
Guatemala received $9.3 billion, a record, and 12.3 percent more than 2017. Remittances account for 10 percent of Guatemala's GDP-
El Salvador received $5.5 billion, an increase of 8.4 percent, while Honduras pulled in $4.9 billion, some 10.3 percent more.
Nicaragua received $1.4 billion, which represented an increase of 7.8 percent.
