It takes two months to set up a business in Costa Rica. Reforms to reduce red tape fail to provide results

Now that Nicaragua has improved its ability to do business, Costa Rica has become the second from last of the countries in Central America in setting up a company.

Reforms that allow tax payments online and property registries have failed to reduce the among of time that it takes in Costa Rica, currently 60 days on average.

Number one in the world for doing business is Singapore. In Latin America, Chile leads and in Central America, Panama.
