Japanese to take charge of El Salvador por tender

Monday, February 18, 2019

The Japanese aid agency, JICA is in charge of the tender for the concession to win the port of La Unión in El Salvador.

JICA lent more than $100 million to pay for the construction of the port, which was completed in 2008 but has since been a white elephant.

A JICA official said that El Salvador has kept up with its obligations to pay the debt, and the Japanese government wants the port to be opened as soon as possible. However, the tender could be complicated.
