Jobs at risk in Nicaragua's free zones
Wednesday, February 6, 2019
Nicaragua's free zones have maintained employment levels throughout the crisis that began last April.
But the sector's business leaders say that job losses are inevitable in view of the new rules that will increase contributions by employers and employees to the government's social security institute.
Nicaragua's free zones house 192 companies, with a total of 120,500 employees. Business sources say that 75 of the firms are in the textile and garment sector.
