Korea seeks trade accords with regional nations

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

South Korea is seeking to boost a partnership with Panama, and explore the possibility of signing free trade agreements with regional players.

At a meeting in Panama City, President Lee Myung-bak and his Panamanian counterpart, Ricardo Martinelli, agreed to cooperate closely to extend Korea's economic and investment relations with Central American countries.

The two countries will discuss the possibility of Korean trade accords with some members of the Central American Integration System (SICA), which provides virtually untapped markets for Korean firms.
