Legislator: Honduras may break ties with Taiwan

Monday, November 18, 2013

Recent actions and comments by officials and reports in media indicate that Honduras may become the next to break diplomatic ties with Taiwan, according to Taiwan Solidarity Union Legislator Huang Wen-ling.

The move would follow an unexpected break in diplomatic ties between Honduras and Gambia.

Taiwan had promised to help Honduras with a railroad project, but failed to deliver, and in July, Honduras signed a memorandum of understanding with a Chinese company to develop the railroad system.
