Locally made smartphone launched in Guatemala

Friday, December 12, 2014

Lucas, a company created by three Guatemalans and one Mexican, has launched its first smartphone aimed at the Latin American market.

"Everything from the box, the Spanish-language instruction manual, the colors, every aspect has been created to suit Latin American consumers' preferences," said Lucas associate Álvaro Méndez.

The phone will be launched initially in Guatemala and will run the Android operating system, while in Mexico it will be sold through Elektra stores, a retail arm of Grupo Salinas.
